Bathroom Countertop Types
The right countertops can turn an average bathroom into a stunning bathroom. Choosing the right material makes all the difference.
Granite countertops are durable, with a luxurious feel. They stand up well to moisture, which is key in a bathroom, are easy to clean, and available in a variety of color options. However, granite countertops do require maintenance. It should be sealed at least once a year to prevent staining and retain shine.
Quartz countertops are durable, low maintenance, and stylish. Because quartz is manufactured, they can include veins and swirls of colors to resemble designs seen in marble countertops. They’re easy to clean and don’t require sealing.

Vanity top and countertop can be used interchangeably for the most part, but if you want to get technical, a vanity is a single unit in the bathroom that includes the sink and usually drawers. You may want to add a vanity top to your vanity to protect it and add an extra layer of luxury. A countertop is simply a long slab of material – a flat horizontal surface – made from granite or quartz.
Neither is “better,” though one may be better suited to your needs. For that extra touch of class, nothing beats granite. However, granite does require more maintenance to keep it looking great. Quartz is easier to maintain while still offering a sumptuous look and feel.
